FINE ART PORTRAITS

I love to photograph people in situations that portray universal themes of growing older.  Children and adolescents are my favorite subjects.  They seem simple but are quite complex.  These timeless complexities connect us all.  My photographs are visual metaphors of life captured in everyday moments.

1-4.jpgThe Marin Independent Journal of Northern California recently featured Debra and her "Growing up Girl Project" in the Life Styles Section.  Read the article at The Marin IJ.

Debra received 2nd Place in this year’s PX3  Prix De La Photgraphie Paris competition for her "Growing Up Girl” Series as well as 3 honorable mentions for her portraits in other categories.  Her work will be featured in the Annual PX3 Book No. 2. More work from this project was selected by juror, Julie Saul, director of the Julie Saul Gallery in NYC. for publication in this year's Photo Review Competition Issue, http://www.photoreview.org  Debra also received honorable mention in the prestigious "Spectra '07 Triennial" at the Silvermine Guild Arts Center, CT for her image "Gateway" from this project. The juror was Peter MacGill, owner of Pace/MacGill Gallery, NYC. More images from "Growing Up Girl Project" were on display as well this year in "Extasy On" at PrimoPiano Livin Gallery, Lecce, Italy. Her "Family Reunion Series" received third place in this year's PX3  Prix De La Photgraphie Paris

Debra's portraits were selected for inclusion in the prestigious Critical Mass Portfolio Review, associated with Photolucida as well as the Review Santa Fe, the only juried portfolio review in the country. 

A partial portfolio of portraits can be seen at FStop Magazine Gallery representing the group exhibition,  "Childhood/Adulthood" and in the newly released  book,  F-Stop:The First Four Years.  as well as in the Double Exposure Book Series, Photos That Inspire:Photo. Debra also received honorable mention in the  prestigious The Lucies / International Photography Awards   for her “Growing Up Girl” Series and her portraits of children. Her "Growing Up Girl" portfolio was also selected to be screened at the Palm Springs Photo Festival Slide Show.
