Debra Tomaszewski is a fine art photographer living in Northern California.  She holds a MA in Fine Art Photography and has worked as an art educator teaching art to students in all grade levels in public school as well as college.  Her artwork has been exhibited internationally and has won numerous awards.  Debra's psychological portraits explore  universal experiences of life through visual metaphors.

Debra received 2nd Place in this year’s PX3  Prix De La Photgraphie Paris competition for her "Growing Up Girl” Series as well as 3 honorable mentions in other catagories.  Her work will be featured in the Annual PX3 Book No. 2. She also received honorable mention in the prestigious "Spectra '07 Triennial" at the Silvermine Guild Arts Center, CT for her image Gateway from the "Growing Up Girl" Project. The juror was Peter MacGill, owner of Pace/MacGill Gallery, NYC. More images from "Growing Up Girl Project" were on display as well in "Extasy On" at PrimoPiano Livin Gallery, Lecce, Italy. Her "Family Reunion Series" received third place in PX3  Prix De La Photgraphie Paris   A partial portfolio of Debra's "Ellis Island Abandoned Dreams" Series was included in the exhibition, "Uncomfortable Landscapes" at PrimoPiano Livin Gallery, Lecce, Italy. FStop Magazine Exhibition,"Open Theme" featured several "Ellis Island Illuminated" images. 

Debra was selected to participate in the prestigious Critical Mass Portfolio Review, associated with Photolucida as well as Review Santa Fe, the only juried portfolio review in the country. 

She was chosen as the "Featured Artist”, Issue 13, at The F- Stop Magazine Gallery,   representing the group show titled, "Childhood/Adulthood".  These images are published in the newly released book, FStop,The First Four Years.  More of Debra's portraits can been seen in the book, Photos That Inspire: PhotoWorkshop.com representing Double Exposure Magazine.

Debra received 3rd place for her "Ellis Island Illuminated" portfolio in the prestigious International Photography Awards/ Lucie Awards, which is published in the book, The Lucies, Annual IPA Awards No.6, Debra received honorable mention in the International Photography Awards for her portraits of children and for her "Growing Up Girl" Project as well as her "Ellis Island Abandoned Dreams" Series.  Debra's "Growing Up Girl" portfolio was also chosen to be screened at the Palm Springs Photo Festival Outdoor Slide Show.
